Email address verification

This host checks whether email addresses can receive mail. It never sends email.

Seeing connections from 148.113.26.199? That is this host. It opens an SMTP connection, issues EHLO, MAIL FROM and RCPT TO to ask whether an address is accepted, then closes the session with QUIT. It never issues DATA, so no message is ever transmitted.

Why this exists

Sending mail to addresses that no longer exist produces bounces, which harms deliverability for everyone and wastes your servers' resources. Checking first means fewer dead addresses are ever mailed.

How we try to be a good neighbour

Low, paced volume
Checks are spread out deliberately rather than sent in bursts.
We back off when asked
A 421, 450 or any policy response pauses checks to your servers automatically.
Greylisting is respected
We retry after the delay you specify, from the same IP, with the same recipient โ€” not immediately.
Aligned identity
Forward DNS, reverse DNS and the HELO name all match, and SPF and DMARC are published.

Stop checks for your domain
